Our History

California Pacific was formed in 1950 by Admiral Jack Pearse to service supermarkets, small markets, convenience stores, hotels, restaurants, distributors and catering firms. From our office on 28 California Street in San Francisco (pictured below), the company’s primary focus was exporting all types of foods, including frozen and chilled meats, seafood, poultry and miscellaneous freeze items as well as fresh produce, canned goods and a full compliment of dry products.

Throughout California Pacific’s proud and long standing history the company has also been heavily involved in sales to the U.S. Military Commissary Stores and Morale, Welfare, Recreational (MWR) food service activities in the Pacific. With the ability to comply with the U.S. Government regulations and adapt to the requirements of foreign countries, California Pacific was awarded Prime Vendor contracts in 1995 for all Air Force activities in Guam, Okinawa, Japan and Korea.

That same year, California Pacific converted from a Sole Proprietorship to a Limited Liability Company allowing the company to increase it’s focus on the commercial food markets throughout the Pacific with it’s expansion and introduction of California Pacific International, LLC (CPI). CPI’s primary focus to this very day is the “niche” market areas of both Micronesia and Polynesia.
